Under contract to Texas A&M
University, New Horizon Technologies designed measurement plans and installed
instrumentation in a variety of large government and university buildings as part of an
overall energy study of Texas state buildings. This major multi-year study will
involve over 400 buildings (with over 150 site instrumented to date), to determine the
effectiveness of various institutional building energy conservation retrofits. This
project involves metering large, high-voltage loads (including cogeneration systems) and
includes extensive thermal monitoring.
The LoanSTAR Program has saved Texas
taxpayers millions of dollars to date. The program was begun in 1989 by the
Governor's Energy Office to provide revolving low-interest loans for energy-conserving
retrofits made in public buildings and schools. A unique feature of the Loan STAR
program is the Monitoring and Analysis Program which was the first comprehensive metering
and monitoring program ever established in the United States.
These projects were all carried out by staff currently employed by New Horizons Technologies Energy Services. The actual contractor could have been the National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT), The NCAT Development Corporation, New Horizon Technologies, Inc. or New Horizons Technologies Energy Services depending on when the project was conducted. |
