Our Story

It Started with a Problem Only Engineers Could See

In the 1980s, a small team of energy nerds in Butte, Montana noticed a problem most others ignored: utility usage in large buildings was poorly managed, wasting energy—and money. Boilers ran overnight, equipment schedules were inefficient, leaks went undetected, and systems worked against each other. The tools to fix these issues either didn’t exist or were incomplete.

So we built our own.

New Horizon Technologies was founded to give facility managers clear insight into what’s really happening behind the meter—and the ability to take action. We developed the Utility Monitoring System (UMS) to deliver real-time visibility across electricity, gas, water, and more, with the support and validation to trust every number.
